Come home to your body, regulate your nervous system, and move forward from trauma and stress.
If you’ve ever been told to “just think positive” or “talk it out” — and it didn’t help — you’re not alone.
Many of us carry stress, trauma, and emotional pain in our bodies, often below conscious awareness. Maybe you notice it as chronic tension, numbness, anxiety, or a general sense of being stuck or disconnected.
Somatic therapy helps bridge that gap between mind and body. It’s a gentle, powerful way to work with your nervous system so that healing happens not just cognitively, but deep in your tissues, patterns, and felt experience.
I’m Bridget Weigel, LPC. I offer somatic therapy for individuals and couples in Denver and across Colorado, both virtually and in person.
Why Somatic Therapy?
Most traditional therapy focuses on thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. But trauma lives in the body.
When something overwhelming happens — whether a single event or years of chronic stress — your nervous system adapts to keep you safe. Sometimes these adaptations get stuck, leading to:
Hypervigilance or anxiety
Emotional numbness or shutdown
Chronic fatigue or pain
Disconnection from your body or intuition
Relational difficulties
Feeling “frozen” in life decisions
Somatic therapy helps us tune into these body-based patterns with curiosity and compassion, so you can begin to release stuck energy and create more space for presence, connection, and choice.
How Somatic Therapy Works
In our sessions, we’ll slow down and explore what’s happening in your body, in real time:
Noticing subtle sensations
Tracking tension, movement, and shifts
Using grounding and resourcing techniques
Supporting the nervous system to process stored experiences
Building capacity to stay present with emotions and sensations
This work is gentle and client-led. You’ll never be pushed beyond what feels tolerable. Together, we’ll build safety and trust, so that your body begins to feel like a place you can inhabit again — with more ease, clarity, and resilience.
Somatic Therapy May Be a Good Fit If You Are:
Dealing with anxiety, panic, or chronic stress
Navigating trauma recovery or PTSD
Struggling with body image or body-related shame
Feeling disconnected from your emotions or body
Wanting to improve your capacity for emotional regulation
Exploring nervous system regulation to support relationship health
Curious about a more embodied, integrative approach to therapy
Why I Use Somatic Approaches in My Work
I’m trained in somatic psychotherapy and integrate these tools alongside Emotionally Focused Therapy,
EMDR, and other relational modalities.
I do this because I’ve seen — over and over — that talking alone isn’t enough for many of us. When we bring the body into the room, real transformation becomes possible.
Whether you’re seeking trauma healing, support for anxiety, or simply a deeper connection with yourself, somatic therapy can open new pathways for growth.
